TOSUNGA BANINGA
For Survivors by Survivors
WHO WE ARE
Helping to help others
Tosunga Baninga is a Community-based Organisation that supports the survivors of gender based violence, rape and femicide. The name, Tosunga Baninga, means helping to help others. Tosunga Baninga has an over night shelter that is inclusive of lesbian and bisexual women. We offer skills/livelihood training workshops to survivors and court support. We do court support in a unique way. We create mock crime scenes at every court case we attend to create awareness and share with people around that court. We are based in Evaton, a township north of Sebokeng in the Emfuleni region of Gauteng, South Africa.
SKILLS TRAINING
Empowering womxn economically
Victims of domestic violence are often stuck in the situation because they are dependent on those abusing them. We strive to empower women through skills/livelihood training. Contact us to learn more about the products survivors create and how you can support.
ADVOCACY
Raising awareness
We are dedicated to raising awareness about Gender Based Violence, patriarchy and toxic masculinity. We do our advocacy work within the community and in relation to the justice system. Through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We invite you to learn more and lend your support.
COURT SUPPORT
Supporting survivors
Through providing court support, our goal is to support victims and their families to navigate the complex experience of their case proceeding through the justice system. We create mock crime scenes at every court case we attend to create awareness and share with people around that court.
